Pecatonica, IL – The Clydesdale Breeders of the U.S.A. have confirmed plans for the 2018 World Clydesdale Show to be held October 24-28 in Madison, WI. Over 600 Clydesdales from around the world are anticipated to compete on U.S. soil for the event’s first time since 2011.
The World Clydesdale Show will take place inside Madison’s Alliant Energy Center and will be open to the public. Competition will include hitch, halter and riding programs, testing the breed’s versatility and beauty through a wide range of classes. A special highlight will include the Friday and Saturday night programs, set to crown the ‘world’s best’ six and eight-horse hitch Clydesdale champions.
“It’s an iconic breed and the World Clydesdale Show is an iconic event on a global scale,” says Clydesdale Breeders of the U.S.A. Executive Director Cathy Behn. “Just imagine, the collection of massive size, thunderous power and majestic grace that comes with over 600 Clydesdales from around the world competing in one place … it’s truly an unmatched spectacle.”
Aside from the competition, the World Clydesdale Show will include multiple demonstrations and seminars designed to entertain and educate. Enthusiasts are invited to follow event preparations @WorldClydesdaleShow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as further event details are finalized and announced in the coming months.
Because of its size and significance, the World Clydesdale Show is held only every 3 – 4 years. The first show held on U.S. soil in over 100 years also took place in Madison in 2007. The last World Clydesdale Show was held in 2015 in Canada.
